| Bears Linebacke Crys Foul |

Brian Urlacher says his arthritic back feels great and his surgically repaired neck is fine. However, don’t expect Urlacher to get his mind right until the star middle linebacker’s contract dispute with the Chicago Bears is resolved. On Monday Urlacher, who has stayed away from the Bears’ voluntary offseason workouts, told Yahoo! Sports he expected to boycott the team’s mandatory minicamp from May 30 to June 1 because of his dissatisfaction with management’s lax response to his requests for a raise. “I would bet I wouldn’t be there,” Urlacher said from Arizona, where he has spent most of the offseason. “My agents and the team had some good dialogue early on, but nothing’s happened lately. It’s been almost two months since there’s been any action on their end, and it’s a waiting game right now.”

| Tipping In poker? |
| 02.14.08 (12:41 am) [edit] |
|
There is a little known talked about element of NL Texas Hold 'Em that is often never talked about and I know I havent seen an article on WDIAV about it yet so I thought I would put it out there and see the response I get back. I asked myself this question after watching the WSOP on TV. A few times I have seen the winning player throw a few dollars towards the dealer at the table. So I asked myself is Tipping the dealer at the poker table accetable?? I would have to say yes but what do you tip if your only in a ring game a a casino. Well I guess if would depend how much you sit down a the table with and how much you won on that hand. Granted you are not obligated to do it but i think it is in good form if you do. Then that brings up another question. Do you tip per win or wait to you leave the table then throw the dealer a few bucks if you leave a winner? Again this all depends if you think tiping the dealer per win hurts your bankroll enough not to do it. I would say if you ron the lowere stakes tables .50 / $1 is a good tip per hand won if the flop is seen. If you fold and everyone folds around then I think the dealer would understand you not tipping on that. If you happen to win a huge pot you might wanna throw in a few extra to the dealer!! Probably $5 i sthe most I would go on any given hand no matter what the stakes unless you rlike IVEy and them playing in that Big Money game in Vegas then they might throw a few hundred down! If you win money in a tournment im not sure if you should tip there or not unless you win. Im not sure how tournament dealers get paid but im sure every little bit helps!

| 10 TIPS FOR ALL IN POKER!! |
| 02.03.08 (11:46 am) [edit] |
|
All-in is a betting strategy used in today's most popular poker game, No limit Texas Holdem. When you declare that you're going "All-in", you are putting all your chips into the pot on that hand. This could be a do or die move by you, depending on whether you have more or less chips than an opponent who calls your bet. If you have less starting chips and lose the all-in, you are out of the game.
This is what makes all-in such a powerful strategy in Texas Holdem poker, but also what makes it such a dangerous one. Go all-in and you can be finished on one turn of a card.
Some poker players however miss the point a bit with their all in bets and lose out on opportunities to take advantage of a strategically placed bet.
Here are 10 tips that should help you to decide when the right time is to go all-in.
1. Don't just wait until you've got the "nuts". If you do this you will be very predictable and opponents will simply fold to your all-in.
2. Remember that it is much easier to make an all-in bet than to call one. All you need to do to win the hand is bet when you're sure your opponent will fold.
3. If you are a strong chip leader you can bully your opponents into folding. You will lose some of your chips if you lose an all-in, they will lose them all and be out of the game.
4. Don't go all-in on a stone cold bluff. Always make sure that even though you might not have the best hand, you have a chance of making it with the cards that are still to be dealt. Put another way, leave yourself with "outs".
5. Beware of going all-in with a short stack of chips. You are far more likely to get called by a big stack because if you lose, you will be out of the tournament. You need to have an almost unbeatable hand in these circumstances.
6. If you are low on chips, use the all-in to your advantage if you get a monster hand. You will almost certainly get called and you might even get more than one caller so instead of doubling your money you can triple it or even better.
7. You can't bluff if you're short stacked, you do not have enough chips and nobody is going to be afraid to bet against you. You can only go all-in if you get a good hand.
8. If you're short stacked, don't let your chips drain away with the blinds. Make a stand with an all-in while you still have a chance to steal the blinds. If you get called you can still win the pot and be back in the game.
9. If a short stacked player goes all-in, it is usually better for you to re-raise all in. This will scare off any other callers after you in the betting who might have also called just because of the value they were getting for their bet.
10. If somebody goes all in against you, use the previous tips above to decide why he did. Does he only go all-in with the nuts? Is short stacked? Is he trying to bully you to get you to fold? Weigh up the situation very carefully before deciding whether to call.
Use these tips and you’ll soon be cleaning up at the poker tables.

| POKER STRATEGY |
| 01.30.08 (11:51 am) [edit] |
|
Keep It Simple
When you start to play poker, you will more than likely be playing low-limit games. Beating these games does not require you to become a masterful poker player, it primarily entails that you are able to outplay poor opponents. Beating good players at high limits can be incredibly difficult, entailing many complex moves. However, winning at low limits is pretty straightforward.
What do I mean? Basically, other players won't be paying attention to you. They only care about their own cards; they don't care about you or your cards. They will play their hand as they always play their hand, regardless of whether or not you are in the pot. You are basically a ghost to them... but hopefully you will be a ghost that's slowly taking their money! If you want to beat these types of players, you simply need to a play a straightforward game that will win in the long run. For example, play tight, don't do any fancy bluffs, bet aggressively when you probably have the best hand, and utilize pot odds for your drawing decisions.
When it comes to deception with these players, slowplaying can work. These players are easily fooled into thinking they have the best hand when they hit a pair on the turn, so giving them a free card when you hold the stone nuts can be to your advantage. However, bluffing is simply an exercise in futility. These guys want to see if they have the best hand. They'll pay to see your cards just so they can see them sometimes! Don't expect to scare any fish at lower limits with an extra $2 bet.
Master the art of choosing starting hands, employing pot odds, and aggressively betting your winning hands. However, psychological strategies are generally useless. Your opponents are not thinking too deeply, and attempting any fancy plays will only hurt you.

| Why Play POker?? |
| 01.19.08 (5:13 am) [edit] |
Social rewards. This is a major reason behind the traditional home game. Many friends like to hang out and play cards, and many people become friends over the card table. If this is one of the major reasons you wish to play, stick with low stakes, where the games are more fun and friendly.
Entertainment. Poker is a competitive game. To win, one needs the skills and the bit of luck the game necessitates. Many find this enjoyable and compare poker to playing a sport. Make sure you don't get swept up in the 'entertainment' nature of poker, because it is possible to lose a lot of money at the game.
Education. The skills necessary to become a good poker player apply well to other aspects of life. Poker will help you to improve your judgment skills (reading people) and sharpen your logical and strategic skills (how to play your hand).
To make money. Most people play poker for fun, but some make considerable money at it. Of course, these people are few and far between. Not everyone can make a lot of money from poker. Nevertheless, the desire to win more is definitely a reason to improve your poker skills.
Poker is one of the few forms of wagering where you can actually win. Casino-style betting is rigged against you (it is impossible to win in the long run at craps, roulette, etc., no matter what anyone says. The only exception is blackjack if you count cards, which is extremely difficult). Sports betting is also nearly impossible to beat without insider information. Thus, poker is one of the few forms of gambling where one can actually win money in the long run simply by being good at the game.

| HOW TO HANDLE A BAD BEAT AT ONLINE POKER |
| 01.12.08 (1:17 am) [edit] |
|
The Does And Dont's
There are many ways a player can handle a bad beat at the poker table or online. I'll start off by telling you the dont's if your at a poker table and you take a bad beat. #1 Dont stand up and start cussing #2 Dont start name calling the player that gave you the bad beat (DONKEY, DONK, CUSS WORDS) #3 Dont get mixed up in the next hand right away.
Here are a few DO's
#1 Tell the player nice hand and count out the chips and send them across #2 Take a deep breathe and realize poker is a game of bad beats and your sure to give someone a bad beat and how you would like them to react. #3 Sit out the next hand and compose your thoughts. Its ok to steam as long as it doesnt effect the way you play.
OK here are a few Donts for the online game.
#1 Dont start cussing the player in the chat box (Its best to have your chat off) I do, just in case you really want to say something you wont be able to. Cause as in live play on line if you get reported for langauge eyc you can have your chat suspended. #2 Dont automatically raise the next hand to try to rush to make the money back. Realize the game is full of bad beats but to have bankroll management and conduct yourself in that way. #3 Don't move up to higher tables and try to win the money back. Stay on the level your confortable with and play solid poker!!
Here are a few Do's
#1 Say either nice hand to the player (NH) #2 Don't say anything just take the beat and get ready for the next few hands #3 Take the next hand off unless you have a monster to collect yourself and compose your thoughts.
These are just a few of the tips I try to apply to my poker game in dealing with bad beats. The best tip of all is to remember like I said before, Poker is a game that includes bad beats. You'll definately recieve some and you will definately dish some out. Just try to play solid poker and keep the bad beats to a minimum and use good bankroll management.

| Bankroll Management (Poker) |
| 01.05.08 (4:35 am) [edit] |
Many poker players first starting out in the world of poker dont really know how to control there bankroll in online poker ring games. Most people starting out on the low end of a starting bankroll ($50-$200) usually head straight for the .05 - .10 table online. They feel this is a good place to start out and not lose much money. Its good if your just starting out learning the game but if you know the rules the only true way to be a winning poker player is to step out of your comfort zone a few times and go to higher stake tables. But in doing so never go above what your bank roll can afford. I feel a good rule would be to make sure your bankroll is about 10 times higher than the max buy-in at the table you want to move up to. That way even if you take a bad beat your bankroll isnt that cripled and you can always buy back in without too much hesitation!
